1. Cherian Puthenpurackal: (2g): Third son of Kochitty Kuruvilla was born in 1815. Among all the children of Kochitty Kuruvilla, it was Cherian who ably carried on the legacy of his illustrious father. He managed the agricultural properties of his father very efficiently and increased the wealth and assets he inherited. The majestic palanquins in which he travelled were famous in those times. He had workers and associates from all castes and religious communities. He was a great philanthropist and community leader.
After the death of his father, he gave leadership to his brothers to accomplish the wish of their father which was to build a church in Mepral. He and his brother donated the land to build the Mepral St.Johns church.
He married Annamma from Adoor Nellimoottil Thekkeveettil. After giving birth to a daughter and four sons, Annamma died. Names of the sons are Moothakunju, Mathukunju, Cherian Thomas (Rev) and Chackochen (3g). Daughter was Annamma.
She had a brother who was a gold and diamond merchant and he had extensive trade with Arab countries. He was a close confidant of the Maharajah of Travancore. He went on a trading trip for business abroad but never returned. It was presumed that he died in a ship wreck o r some other calamity. His wife waited several years for him. According to the Canon law of the church, if a person is missing for more than 7 years in the sea, he is considered dead. So, with approval of the church, Cherian Puthenpurackal married his brother-in-law’s wife Mariamma after the death of his first wife. She was from Middle East who came to Travancore along with her merchant family members. After the birth of a son and a daughter, Mariamma also died. The children in the second marriage was daughter Kunjackamma and son Geevareechen(3g).
After the death of his second wife, he again married another Mariamma from Puthenkavil Puthenpurackal family. 2 sons, Cheriachen (3g) and Kunjummen (3g) were born in this marriage.
Thus, Cherian Puthenpurackal had seven sons and 3 daughters from three marriages. The branches which came out of these sons are:

c) Rev Cherian Thomas (3g) - Puthenpurackal Br
